Graden Snake RECAP
It had rained about an hour before the race began, so the roads were wet, muddy, and had puddles all over the place. We had 27 racers register, I think... A few out of towners included. There were several wipe-outs on the wet roads, as well as one relatively major incident where one of our riders t-boned a car... Everyone is okay and only the bike that t-boned is damaged.
Just goes to show you that you never know what you are gonna get with a b.r.alley cat.
Results:
DFL's went to Lauren (she wrecked hard on the first lap) and Angie (last person to finish all four laps--- WAY TO GEAUX ANGIE!!!!)
3rd place went to: Clay!
2nd place went to: Brennan! (sp?)
1st place went to: Jason!
Again, great job Dustin, thanks to everyone for coming out. Keep on showing up with your lights and helmets and riding safely.
NEXT MONTH will be announced soon. We have our races planned thru April 2010, so don't get tired of 'em!!!!!! ;-)

Drag Race Summary
The Route:
Begin at Parkview Park (Airline near Goodwood)
at 6:30 when registration began, clothes were available for everyone to dress in drag.
drag race the length of Florida Blvd from Airline all the way to the levee. (7 mi)
At the levee, drag down an entire cigarette (or for those who don't smoke, drag your bike up and down the steps at the levee for 2 minutes)
ride to Dalrymple near Washington. Here, the racers were to drag pallets that had concrete on them 20 or 30 feet. Each pallet weighed 70 or 80 lbs easy...
then, race to Chelsea's where you had to think of something that was a total drag.
the overall route was about 10 miles, along with some pretty intense physical action.
The Results:
Dave ------- DFL!!!!!!!!!
?????? -------- 3rd (was it Keith or Jason? I forgot....)
Clay --------- 2nd
Weeber -------- 1st
Thanks to all 14 racers for coming out. Keep spreading the word to your friends. September 11th is the next race, and will be called the Physical Challenge. Dave and Travis are organizing it. 6:30 registration, 7PM race, clock tower.

JULY ALLEY CAT
Who? Anyone with a bicycle.
What? Scavenger hunt style alley cat race.
Where? Under interstate 110 on North Blvd.
When? July 10, registration starts at 7:00, race starts at 7:30, and be back by 8:30.
Why? Fun, adventure, experience, knowledge, stories to tell, and a chance to win some money.
How? Show up with $5 cash, a pen, and a zip top bag to keep your personal items dry.
Things to know:
1. The boundaries are to the north, Capitol Lake Dr., to the east, 19th St./Park Blvd., to the
south, Terrace Ave., and to the west, Mississippi River. This is roughly a one by one and a half
mile area, very easy to cover in an hours time.
2. The over all payout: 1st gets 60%, 2nd gets 40% of entry money. If we get more than 20
participants pay will be 1st 50%, 2nd 30%, and 3rd 20%. Over all top three will get spoke
cards no matter what. DFL (lowest score) gets no cash but will receive a special spoke card.
3. Classes, yes classes. For some extra racing action I have decided to create different classes for
this race. What class you are in will be decided by me when I receive your entry fee. They are
in no particular order; Fixed Gear, Single Speed Freewheel, Multi-Speed Road, Mountain
Bike, Cruiser (with 7 or less speeds), Ladies, BMX, and Mutant Bike. In order to become a
class there must be at least 5 participants in the same class. Each class will be racing to get
their entry fee back as well as for the overall pay out. Yes, ladies may possibly be racing in two
classes at once.
4. For your $5 you will receive a piece of paper with a map on one side and the 20 questions on
the other side. You will not have to get wet to answer the 20 questions but there will be at
least one bonus task that will require you to get wet, so dress for it. The questions will
vary in point value based on distance from the start and difficulty. Highest score wins, and in
the event of a tie, speed of completion will determine the winner. As usual we will ride to
Chealsea's for the awards presentation.
5. I want to see a large turn out for this one guys and gals. All bikes are capable of completing
this course so tell every one with a bike to come give it a try or at least check out this blog. I should have fliers at all the bike shoppes in town by the 17th.
6. It will be hot, and by the end of the race dark. Suggested items would be water, lights, and as

1st b.r.alley cat a success!
For the race, all the riders locked their bikes to the fence of the Old Capital, and were directed to the far side of the fountain that lies between the capital and the River Center. Then, at the stroke of 7PM, they grabbed 1 of 5 manifests, unlocked their bikes, and began their ride. Each manifest had 6 locations that needed to be scouted. The goal for the riders was to correctly identify the most locations as qucikly as possible.
The boundaries were I-110 to the east, the MISS. river to the west, Government to the south, and Capital Lake Dr to the north. We had 3 prize levels: 1st prize went to Jacques - $25 and a Mid City bikes gift certificate 2nd prize went to Keith - $20 and a Mid City bikes gift certificate D.F.L. prize went to Moshe - $5 (he got his registration back!!)
I will post the flyers from the Feb. b.r.ALLEY CAT soon. Also, keep your eyes open for flyers for the March edition of the b.r.ALLEY CAT race.
