November Alleycat

Luke SIDEwalker 2.63 Km Time Trial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's correct peoples.... A sidewalk alley cat. Set aside your personal qualms with riding on the sidewalk and come out for a 2.63 km time trial.

The start of the race is in the parking lot at the corner of N. 3rd Street and Dunbar Ave. If you were to be at the cannons at Arsenal Park, this would be right behind the building that is straight across the lake.

Registration is at 6:30. Race is PROMPTLY at 7:00 pm.

Since the course is quite tricky, we will be making a slow group ride of the course. Anyone who misses the slow ride will NOT be allowed to race. Course will be marked with small arrows to help.

The course is on sidewalks and crosswalks only, any cutting of corners (even a little bit) is instant disqualification.

Bring lights (required or no racing), a helmet (think for yourself) and $5.

The race consists of 2 one-lap attempts. Best time stands. Top 3 race a double lap against each other. First and Second split pot 80/20 (or their entry fee). No third (after all, second loser sucks!).

T.I.T.T. RECAP (Twenty Inch Time Trial)

After much work, deliberation, toil and a little bit of procrastination, Jonathan got us three super pimped out twenty inch bikes set up as time trial rides. If you've never seen a dirtjumper with a two foot seatpost and drop moustache bars you haven't truly lived yet.

We had a two lap route that took riders 0.86 miles. The six riders with the fastest times did a second heat, all on the same bike to even the playing field a little bit. Here are the results:

DFL: Elisabeth!!!! Woo!

3rd place: Jason St. Romaine
2nd place: J.T.
1st place: Jason Evers

Other riders in the top six were: Andy Tuba, Weeber, and Joshua.

Way to go Jonathan for organizing a kickass race, and much thanks to you and your housemates for letting us party there.

Next month is Zac with a race that is sure to be a lot different than this one... keep your eyes peeled here for more info as it comes available to me.

June Race

June was the second edition of Weeber's 20 questions (only this time, there were 19)

Basically, it was a leisurely ride around the lakes while trying to answer questions that Weeber conjured up about the scenery. He had some trickeration, so it was a true b.r.alley cat.

There were 5 participants:

DFL - Kasey

4th - Eddie

1st - Andy, Joshua, Mike

Because Andy got back first, he won the tie breaker. And blew out his knee again. He's fine, though.

It was a good race, fun times were had at Chelsea's afterwards as always.

Come out next month!!! July 9th, 2010, meeting place TBA.

May

May was the Cruzer Crit b.r.alley cat.

It was held at Mike's house on Myrtle, with 4 racers racing at a time.

I was unable to attend, so if you were there, post a comment on how it went!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

As you may or may not be aware, May is bike month. That rules. Last year we did a 4 race Tour da Rouge to celebrate bike month. This year, Andy is in school and otherwise loosing his mind, so he has not had time to orchestrate the Tour da Rouge.

There will be a May b.r.alley cat on the second Friday, though.

Keep your eyes here for more info as it is gathered.

That's right! We are re-visiting the first bralley cat from February 2009 in observance of the one year anniversary of monthly alley cat races in Baton Rouge.

This race focuses on the downtown area. Bring lights, a fast bike, a lock, and SOMETHING TO WRITE WITH.

See you in a week.........ride safe!

Big time props to Weeber, That Mike Guy, and Moshe for riding in last year's Know Your Downtown AND this year's Know Your Downtown. Also, thanks to Mark for hanging with me at the start/finish both years, and for being an invaluable resource for these races for the last year.
Finally, we missed Clay and Keith who were also at the race a year ago, as were Chris and Jen, who also chilled at the start with me.
