Several factors combined to make December the most challenging b.r.alley cat yet...
The setting: under a tree near the canons at Arsenal Park, downtown Baton Rouge
The weather: 42 degrees, steady but not super heavy rain, strong east wind...
The players: Dustin, Angel, William, Jeff, Clayton, Colin, Weeber, Travis
The route: Choctaw, from the river to Florida Blvd and back
The checkpoints: Mark@Winn Dixie (Lobdell/Choctaw/Greenwell Springs)
Aaron@Tire Shop (Choctaw & Sherwood Forest)
Mike & Angie@Choctaw and Florida
and then the same, in reverse...
The results:
Hypothermia Travis bailed after about 4 miles with purple knuckles
Flat Tire Colin and I Like To Fall Dustin bailed after going the wrong way down Lobdell
Magellan Angel led them the wrong way down Lobdell, got back to Choctaw, and kept riding, until she got to Aaron for the first time and was encouraged to stop due to time constraints.
Clayton the Wrecker fell about 5 times on train tracks and quit when he got to Aaron the first time.
That makes the rankings, in order:
DFL - Magellan Angel for being the last to quit
3rd - Granny Gear William
2nd - I quit, No I Don't. I quit, No I Don't Jeff
1st - I Ride Faster Cuz My Feet Make Smaller Circles Weeber
THANK YOU so much to Mark, Aaron, Mike, and Angie for helping me out with the logistics. With the crappy weather conditions, we needed all the support that we had.
Also, big time thanks to the 8 riders who came out for this one. The weather was shitty, and you 8 kept the monthly b.r.alley cat a tradition in the making.
Next month brought to you by Travis Mid City.....so be ready...
